Liu Lei, male, was born in Changchun, Jilin in 1954, but his ancestral home is in Shanxi. In 1977 he was graduated from Beijing Medical College. He took up photography in 1979. He worked as a photojournalist for Cultural Exchanges magazine, and for the foreign affairs office of the Ministry of Culture between 1983 and 1998. He became a member of Chinese Photographers Society in 1984 and is now the president of China Art Photographic Association, executive member of the Photojournalist Society of China, and executive member and art commission director of China Photographers’Association.
